The fishing season runs from March to September, offering varied conditions and different experiences throughout the year.

The Hemingway Experience

The Rio Irati in Navarre is much more than a river: it's a place steeped in history. Ernest Hemingway, the famous American writer and fishing enthusiast, regularly stayed there in the 1920s.

This exceptional experience is only offered in May and June, when conditions are optimal. The 8 to 9 hour day allows you to explore preserved courses, off the beaten track.

Fishing Seasons

Each period of the season offers different conditions and experiences:

  • March-April: Season opening, cool waters, active fish. Ideal for nymphs.
  • May-June: Mayfly hatches, exceptional dry fly fishing. Rio Irati period.
  • July-August: Morning and evening fishing. Seeking cool waters at altitude.
  • September: End of season, fish in great shape before autumn.

I advise you on the best period based on your availability and goals.
